Get to know Carlos Corberán better
Review his career here: his training in Spain and his journey through Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Greece and England.
There was no better way for Carlos Soler to celebrate his 100th appearance in LaLiga than with a winning goal, and no better place to do it than at Mestalla. The VCF Academy product was on the scoresheet with a 77th minute strike against Celta Vigo, the only goal of the game and one that takes Valencia CF -at least temporarily- into the Champions League spots.
After the game, the 23 year old spoke about what the milestone means to him, and expressed his desire to add many more games to his total at the club.
"I'm very happy. I never thought that I'd reach 100 games in LaLiga with Valencia CF at just 23 years of age; it's amazing. I want to continue enjoying myself here, which is where I want to be," he told VCF Media.
"I've been lucky enough to score a winning goal on what was an important day for me, a goal that for the time being puts us into the Champions League spots, where we want to be. The most important thing today was to take the three points. We started well and were able to score, but Celta have a good team and fought to the end."
"This was a tough game against a Celta side who don't deserve to be where they are in the table, as they have some really good players. We struggled to win, because we came into this one off a huge effort in the Copa del Rey, including extra time. In the end, we won and kept a clean sheet."
Asked to describe his goal, Soler said that "It feel to me perfectly off Rodrigo's touch, I struck it and it went in. The most important thing is that we got the three points at Mestalla, where nobody has been able to beat us yet in the league. Now we have to focus on the cup and keep on going."
In his 100 LaLiga games, the Valencia CF midfielder has 49 wins, 27 draws and 24 defeats to his name, having scored 8 goals. Two came this season, both at Mestalla: Against Real Madrid and Celta Vigo.
He is the player in the current squad with the fourth most official appearances (137), behind only Dani Parejo (374), José Luis Gayà (222) and Rodrigo Moreno (215).
